RESEARCH AND INNOVATION ON CLIMATE CHANGE IN EUROPE
What is MAGICA?
MAGICA is a Coordination and Support Action under Horizon Europe, funded through the HORIZON-CL5-2021-D1-01 call. Coordinated by the CMCC Foundation, the project involves 24 organizations working to establish a multi-directional dialogue with various societal stakeholders—from policymakers to the younger generation. This dialogue is enhanced through international conferences, workshops, and innovative formats designed to inform citizens and address social needs related to the transition toward climate neutrality and climate science. The initiative aims to foster a trust-based community of practice and enable effective climate action.
What is Horizon Europe?
Europe has been a global leader in climate science and should continue to maintain this position to support EU policies and international efforts for global climate action in line with the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including biodiversity targets.
Promoting climate science and further expanding and deepening the knowledge base is essential to guiding society’s transition toward a climate-neutral and climate-resilient future by 2050. This includes achieving more ambitious greenhouse gas emission reduction targets by 2030.
Horizon Europe is the EU’s flagship research and innovation funding program, with a budget of €95.5 billion. It addresses climate change, supports the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and boosts the EU’s competitiveness and growth. The program facilitates collaboration and strengthens the impact of research and innovation in developing, supporting, and implementing EU policies.
