H-FARM College at Milan Digital Week with Two Events Focused on the Future of Education and Work

On October 11 and 13, H-FARM College took part in “Milan Digital Week 2024”, an event promoted by the City of Milan in collaboration with TIG – The Innovation Group, this year dedicated to the topic, “The New Language of the City: Between Artificial Intelligence and Human Expressions.

Our contribution featured two significant events centered on innovation in the education sector and the evolving world of work.

Hackathon “AI for Education”: Young Innovators Working on the Future of Education

On October 11, we led the “AI for Education” Hackathon, an initiative involving high school students in the challenge of developing innovative AI-based solutions for the education sector. Participants addressed crucial topics related to school, university, and learning, working on creating tools to optimize teaching, personalize learning paths, and enhance the accessibility of educational resources.

Talk “Jobs of the Future”: A Roadmap for Tomorrow’s Professions

On October 13, Timothy O’Connell – Startup Center Director and Program Coordinator at H-FARM College – and Diego Pizzocaro – CEO of H-FARM AI and Program Coordinator – delivered a talk on “Jobs of the Future,” joined by Antonella Sannella, Executive Director of H-FARM College.

In his talk, Timothy outlined some emerging fields that will shape the job market in the coming years, particularly highlighting:

-Green tech and sustainability

-Health and longevity

-Space economy

-AI & automation

-Cybersecurity & digital privacy

-Agritech & vertical farming

-Quantum computing

Speaking on the critical skills needed to stay competitive in a rapidly evolving world, Timothy emphasized that technical skills must be accompanied by abilities like data literacy, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and critical thinking. Reflecting on essential skills in a changing world is central to our approach to education because, as Timothy stated, “At H-FARM, with over 20 years of experience in startups and innovation, we have created a cutting-edge educational platform designed to cultivate these skills and prepare talent for the jobs of the future.”

Diego Pizzocaro then delved into the topic of Artificial Intelligence, noting that, due to the more sophisticated generative AI technologies, “In the future, some jobs will disappear, but all jobs will evolve.” Diego highlighted how AI represents a “general-purpose technology” comparable to the internet or electricity, with a broad impact across all sectors and a demonstrated capacity to significantly increase productivity.

The session concluded with a lively Q&A, with active audience participation, confirming the high level of interest in these crucial topics for the future of education and work.
