The Innovation & Technology area offers a solid education in emerging technologies, combining technical skills, problem-solving abilities and a vision focused on their real-world applications. The programmes enable students to develop the knowledge needed to design innovative solutions, work with complex systems and data, and understand the strategic, ethical and governance implications of using technology and artificial intelligence.

Diego Pizzocaro holds a PhD in Artificial Intelligence (multi-agent systems) from Cardiff University (UK), where he collaborated with prestigious organisations such as NATO, IBM, the UK Ministry of Defence & US Army Research Labs. He was later appointed Honorary Research Fellow at Cardiff University for his contribution to research on Intelligent & Multi-agent Systems.
He was CEO and co-founder of Sellf, a startup born at H-FARM in 2013 and recognised by Apple as one of the most innovative apps in Italy in 2015. He then led the sale of Sellf to ForceManager in 2018, a Barcelona-based tech scale-up where he served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) until April 2024. At ForceManager he made generative AI a key element of his marketing team to improve efficiency and creativity, and contributed to the design of new AI-based product features. Diego is also co-founder of the OpenAccessGPT project, an open-source alternative to ChatGPT, which gained significant media coverage thanks to its focus on privacy and data ownership. He was recently invited to take part in the prestigious first international conference of OpenAI – the company behind the famous ChatGPT – held on 6 November 2023 in San Francisco. At H-FARM he is also co-organiser of the AI CLUB and already teaches courses on Generative AI and Introduction to AI to students and companies, in collaboration with Microsoft Italia, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and the University of Chichester.

Diego was recently appointed CEO of H-FARM AI, the new Research and Development lab for innovative AI-powered projects in education, business and healthcare. H-FARM AI’s commitment and goal is to collaborate with the education, business and healthcare sectors to design and develop AI solutions that improve quality of life, operational efficiency and the way we learn. All the projects and initiatives undertaken by the new lab place a strong emphasis on social impact, aiming to democratise access to artificial intelligence so that the benefits of advanced technologies are shared fairly across all levels of society.
