Lumina and Forbes Next Leaders bring “Day#1” to H-FARM Campus
Yesterday, Wednesday 7 October, the Big Hall hosted “ONE DAY or DAY #1“, an event organised by our student-led agency Lumina together with Forbes Next Leaders. Six speakers, including founders, managers and professionals, shared the moment when a postponed idea becomes a decision.
The theme grew out of an almost trivial thought that everyone knows: “I’ll start on Monday.” “Day #1” is the day that phrase stops being an excuse. Not the before, not the after, but exactly the point in between.
The event is part of the collaboration between Lumina and Forbes Next Leaders, the network the agency has belonged to for over a year. Over these months the team has written articles for both the print magazine and the online blog, and ONE DAY or DAY #1 is the most visible result of that work.
The afternoon was hosted by Katia and Elisa, members of Lumina’s Board of Directors and students in our International Business Studies program. After a welcome from Professor Raffaele Testorelli, Dean of Faculty at H-FARM College, Giorgio Midulla, Head of Forbes Next Leaders, took the stage to introduce the initiative to the audience.
Six stories, six perspectives
Each speaker had 15 minutes on stage, followed by 5 minutes of questions from the audience.
- Matteo Longoni, co-founder and CMO of Finanz, opened the series of talks.
- Lorenzo and Pio Fiorito, founders of Dataz, told the story of their journey from an app for schools to an agency that now has 20 people, a journey that began with a “no” they received years ago.
- Nima Oulomi, founder of TABO Energia, has just started his second “day 1” with The Foundry Haus.
- Anna Matteo, Director of Digital Transformation & IT at OVS, shifted the perspective: how do you do “day 1” inside a company that has existed for decades?
- Chiara Galati, Co-Lead of LinkedIn Social Impact Italy, brought the perspective of one of the most influential platforms in the world of work.
- Denilson Zanotto closed with the most unexpected story of the evening: 26 years in the corporate world, followed by a turn nobody saw coming.
Different stories, one common thread: those who founded a company at a very young age, those who turned a rejection into a career, those who innovate within large organisations, and those who left everything behind to start over. The organisers’ goal was for everyone in the room to find the push they need for their own “day 1”, whatever form it takes.
