Pre-courses kick off at H-FARM College

Today, 14 September, marks the start of H-FARM College’s pre-course week: five days designed to help new students prepare for the beginning of their academic journey, which will officially start on 21 September with the launch event in Big Hall.

The week began with a welcome breakfast at College, giving students their first opportunity to meet one another, get to know the campus and connect with the H-FARM College staff.

Until Friday, new students can take part in a series of optional courses designed to refresh or strengthen some of the skills that can support them throughout their studies. The pre-courses are open to students enrolled in the Bachelor’s degrees delivered in collaboration with the University of Chichester, students of the Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Management, and Master’s students.

The courses cover topics including Introduction to Mathematics, Introduction to Statistics, Marketing Foundations, Introduction to Design Tools and Excel, giving students the opportunity to familiarise themselves with tools and knowledge that may prove useful throughout their academic journey.

The pre-course week is also an opportunity to start experiencing campus life and get to know the H-FARM College community. From 5:00 PM onwards, students can take part in a range of extra activities, including campus tours led by H-Mates — second- and third-year students who help new students discover H-FARM College — as well as sports activities and a welcome party.

A week to find your bearings, meet new people and get familiar with the spaces and community that will be part of the students’ journey over the coming years.

The next appointment is on 21 September, when the entire community will come together in Big Hall to officially kick off the new academic year.
